Multicast Media launches in perfect time for the trade fair

In perfect time for Radiodays Europe, Multicast Media presents the first radio skill maker (, which enables radio stations to offer their programs and content on smart speakers with the help of so-called “skills”. For the industry, this diversity of platforms marks the beginning of a new era. The new possibilities offered by smart speakers, and the content and interaction possibilities listeners want, are among the most important topics at this year’s Radiodays Europe in Vienna.

Potsdam, 15 March 2018. Smart speakers, such as Amazon Echo or Google Home, are not only additional platforms to extend the reach of radio stations and help to serve other target groups, they also offer the possibility of creating entirely new formats. It is not only in terms of acoustics that the digital nature of these services come into play: Programs are not simply “broadcast” – their content, such as interviews, service information or news, can be accessed on-demand. To cater to this demand, Multicast Media is launching its new platform just in time for the trade fair. offers radio stations an easy and affordable tool to create their own “skills” according to their own format requirements, thereby making their own original programming available for their listeners. And all this quickly, easily, effectively, and without any major workflow adjustments. Another innovation: The created skill is controlled by the first dynamic skill management system and can be adapted without beeing verified by Amazon. German, English and in the future also French skills can be created via the platform.

The Skill Maker, which was developed by Multicast Media in cooperation with Konsole Labs, offers a solution that precisely targets broadcasters’ evolving needs. “In the race to establish a digital presence and launch innovative offers, individual stations need to upgrade their technical equipment. Smaller and regional broadcasters can quickly fall behind because developing their own solutions is often prohibitively expensive. With the Skill Maker platform, we want to give all content producers from podcasters to publishers the opportunity to quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively publish their unique content, to analyse it and to experiment with it. Within the radio industry, Multicast Media is synonymous with developing multi-channel strategies and new revenue models for broadcasters. In Skill Maker, they have now developed a product with a new strategic orientation. Thanks to the partnership with the Berlin-based company Konsole Labs, which specialises in customised app and software solutions, Multicast Media was able to accelerate the development its new product.
